Three Hungaroton publications among the ICMA nominees!

Several Hungaroton releases have been shortlisted for the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). 

Beethoven's Complete Works for Cello and Piano performed by Ildikó Szabó and István Lajkó, Chopin's Piano Concertos Nos. 1&2 performed by Gábor Farkas and conducted by Tamás Vásáry with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major, Hommage à Bruno Walter performed by Izabella Simon and Dénes Várjon were nominated. On 15 November, the International Classical Music Awards announced the nominees for the 2024 prize, once again celebrating the best musicians and recordings.

Ildikó Szabó's recording was nominated for The German Record Critics’ Award

In 2020, Ildikó Szabó's cellist solo album Heritage was released by Hungaroton and was shortlisted for the prestigious German Record Critics' Award. The shortlist includes the best CDs, DVDs and audiobooks released in the last quarter.

Three more Hungaroton releases among this year’s ICMA nominations!

As in the last four years, this year too several Hungaroton releases have made it to the list of nominations for the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). The double album of Miklós Perényi’s performance of J. S. Bach’s suites for solo cello was nominated in the Baroque Instrumental category, a pirate recording of concerts by Annie Fischer, also a double album, in the Historical category, while József Balog’s recording of piano works by French composers won nomination in the Solo category. The list of nominations was announced on 17 November by Luxembourg music historian Rémy Franck, chair of the international jury, based on its decision.

Hungaroton’s seven-CD album is in the top three!

Hungaroton’s seven-CD album “The Great Book of Flute Sonatas” has made it to the top three nominations at the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) 2019, said the Head of the Jury, Mr. Remy Franck, on the 10th December in a statement. The CD collection, arching over three centuries of flute music and featuring Gergely Ittzés on the flute boasts several raving reviews. The winners will be announced on 19th January 2019. The Award Ceremony and Gala concert will take place in May 2019 at the KKL in Lucerne, Switzerland.

An unbroken line of success: Hungaroton album yet again nominated for ICMA

After two successive years, Hungarian record label Hungaroton has yet again produced a nominee for the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). The Great Book of Flute Sonatas, made up of seven extraordinary albums, has been selected to compete in the Best Collection category at ICMA 2019. The CD collection, arching over three centuries of flute music and featuring Gergely Ittzés on the flute boasts several raving reviews. The list of candidates was announced by Luxembourg-based musicologist Rémy Franck on 23 November following the voting of the international jury.

The jury of the 40th Grand Prix has awarded the Grand Prix to the CD published by Hungaroton: Faust Symphony – Tausig Transcription performed by István Lajkó

The Tausig transcription of the Faust Symphony recorded for the first time ever to disc by István Lajkó is a huge undertaking. In addition to the impeccable technique and the rich sound that gives the impression of an orchestra playing, the thoughtfulness of the sublime music and the deep and conceptual performance are worth of praise. The accompanying leaflet gives all the important information about the transcription, the transcriber and the performer in both English and Hungarian.

Ditta and Imre Rohmann's Hungaroton-album has been awarded the Classical Music Record of the Year

The "Hungarian Classical Music Record of the Year" category of the Gramofon Award in went to Ditta and Imre Rohmann, published by Hungaroton, featuring works by Bartók, Debussy, de Falla and Ravel – Gramofon editor-in-chief Attila Retkes announced on December 8 at Danube Palace.

Four ICMA nominations: the spectacular international success of Hungaroton

Four of Hungaroton’s recordings have been nominated for the 2018 International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). In the Vocal Recital category, the jury picked the Debussy-album by Emőke Baráth and Emese Virág, in Solo Instrument, István Lajkó’s World Premiere Liszt-recording was selected; in Chamber Music, the CD entitled ‘The Great Fugue’ by Izabella Simon and Dénes Várjon was found worthy of the nomination, and in Best Collection: Zoltán Kocsis’ tribute album made it to the top finals – said Luxembourgish musicologist Rémy Franck, president of the ICMA jury, after the voting on the 16th of November.

The international success of Hungaroton: ICMA-nomination in two categories

Hungaroton has achieved important international recognition at the 2017 vote of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) with two of its issues. In the Concerto category the Beethoven album of Dénes Várjon and Concerto Budapest, while in the Historical category the selection Bartók the Pianist, have been included among the official nominations of ICMA – the announcement was made on November 17, after the vote by the chairman of the Jury, Remy Franck, the musicologist from Luxemburg. The Award Ceremony and Gala Concert will be held on 1st April 2017, in the prestigious Leipzig Gewandhaus.
